A quick hour ferry ride and we’re in Hvar for the next 5 nights, meaning we can set up a home base. It feels great to unpack everything, stock a fridge full of food, and just feel settled for a few days.
We rented a 2 bedroom apartment to ourselves with a kitchen, living room, 2 bathrooms, and huge outdoor terrace. It only costs us around $20 a night each, and it’s as clean & comfortable as home.
Quite the color scheme however! (I apologize for the terrible photos, I snapped them all too quickly and in bad lighting)
The cutest family owns it too, with the owner coming to pick us up from the port in his little green car and serving us homemade liqueurs on arrival, and his mother who offered to do our laundry as soon as we arrived and speaks Croatian to us like we’re her children despite our confusion. She even drops off occasional baked goods. They live just downstairs and run out to say hello whenever we pass by.
There’s also a supermarket up the road, which allows us to make our own meals out of the local ingredients. We enjoyed our first official home-made dinner & sangria last night.
It’ll be a cozy place to call home for the next few days :)
