Meet Mia, our baby Citroen that will be driving us through the eastern half of our road trip in Switzerland. She doesn’t have much power, so hopefully she can chug her way up the steep and windy mountain roads. Either way we love her already!
Parents, don’t worry about us, we’re following this motto…. WWJD:
Our first day in Mia we spent driving all along the Bodensee Lake. We couldn’t be happier with our choice to drive; we’ve seen so much that we know we wouldn’t have been able to appreciate otherwise. And the drive has already been stunning!
Our first stop was Stein am Rhein, a little village that won an award for having the best preserved old town in Europe. It was just as cute and charming as expected, with its colorful facade of buildings and riverfront walkways.
We then adventured over to the Appenzell area to learn all about cheese at the Appenzeller cheese factory. The factory tour was lead by ‘Sven’ via iPad. How fancy is that!
The best part was of course all the free cheese samples at the end!
Since we’ve gone on a few cheese factory tours in Switzerland, instead of being repetitive in each post, here is our summary of all of them and a look into how Swiss cheese is made.
